Lotus People were proud sponsors of the Ireland Funds Australia Global 5k Run!

I often get asked when I meet with new clients or candidates if Lotus People is strictly an Irish agency – there are 4 of us Irish on the team so I can understand this common misconception but I assure you we don’t discriminate! ? That being said, as there is a strong Irish contingent we do try to do as much within the Irish community in Sydney as we can.

Saturday morning was one such event, Lotus People were proud to sponsor The Ireland Funds Australia Global 5k Run and I was lucky enough to take part! The Ireland Funds is a wonderful cause which promotes and supports peace, culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland, and Irish-related causes globally and run many other fundraising events throughout the year as well as the 5k run. With chapters in 12 countries, The Ireland Funds has raised over $600 million for deserving causes in Ireland and beyond, benefiting more than 3,200 different organisations.

Starting in Australia, over 24 hours, 17 chapters across 7 different countries take part in a 5km run and pass the ‘virtual baton; form city to city: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Belfast, Dublin, Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles & San Francisco.

I am always proud to be Irish but I was especially proud on Saturday to join 200 of the Irish community in coming together to support such an amazing cause, it really warmed my heart.

If you haven’t done The Ireland Funds Australia Global 5k Run I would encourage you to take part next year – you don’t have to be Irish to join in. I can also confirm that although the word ‘run’ is in the title you can take the 5k at your leisure, I hit my personal best at an impressive 48minutes ?. The run is also finished off with a sausage sizzle, tayto crisps and club orange – how could you say no to that?

Events like these are incredible to be a part of not only for the charities they support but on a personal level they always make me feel connected to my roots and to home. If you follow me on LinkedIn you will know that I love what I do and I am beyond proud to work in a company that not only supports me but also encourages me to give back to the community.
