The Lotus People Story!

First and foremost, welcome to Lotus People and thank you for visiting!

We are delighted and thrilled to say that today is our launch day! As a bit of background, I thought I would share our story with you;

This year, both Laura and I decided to take the plunge and leave our long term jobs and set up our own office support recruitment agency. Laura and I are very good friends and, having worked together for years, understand well each other’s work styles and ethics – we’re also both incredibly passionate about what we do and the people we get to work with as client and candidates every day. So, in a way, it seemed like a no brainer! Although we have only just launched, I feel, already, we have both learnt an incredible amount over the course of the last few months. We have each had crash courses (some voluntary, some involuntary!) in accountancy, legal, contracts, IT, website development, SEO and plenty of other things that we never quite needed to think about as 360 degree consultants. Adding more strings to our bow is an understatement!

We are lucky enough to have partnered with an established business (Sustainability Consulting, for all your IT and Finance needs!) of likeminded people and, so, we know this will only strengthen us as individuals and our positioning in the market – it also feels nice to come into a buzzy and energetic environment every day, rather than renting a rather bleak, box sized serviced office!

So, it has certainly been a whirlwind in the planning stage, but the support and well wishes that we have received from our networks have truly been overwhelming. To see people as excited about our project as we are, it’s really quite inspiring. To see friends jump in with IT advice, graphic design assistance and website recommendations is fantastic, and we are forever grateful (if any of you ever need any recruitment assistance, you know where we are!).

Recruitment as an industry often carries a bad reputation, and the reason Lotus was born was to buck that trend. We will strive, day in and day out, to be consistent, consultative, responsive and easy to deal with. Whilst Lotus People is only young now, our networks are not, and we are so looking forward to establishing Lotus in the Sydney market, earning a reputation that we, and our future employees, will be proud of.

If you’re looking for work, looking for staff or want to know more, please get in touch today – and wish us luck!

As of 2024, a powerful generational shift is redefining the Australian workforce. For the first time, the workplace is no longer dominated by Baby Boomers or Gen X, but by Millennials and Gen Z. According to the Great Place to Work Insights Report 2024 , these two generations now account for 67% of the workforce in Australia — a demographic transformation that is reshaping major culture across workplaces. With this shift means evolving expectations: how people want to work, what they value in employers, and what they need from leaders. As Baby Boomers retire and Gen X move into more senior leadership roles, Millennials and Gen Z are stepping up — and demanding workplaces that are human-first, values-led and future-focused.

In a market where competition for qualified professionals is fierce, many of our non-profit clients are asking us: “How can we attract and retain great people when we can’t compete on salary and perks?” It’s a valid concern. Industries such as technology, financial services and consulting often have the financial bandwidth to offer high salaries, generous bonus structures and a long list of lifestyle benefits. For mission-driven organisations working with tighter resources, it can feel like a difficult race to run. But a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) isn’t built on budget alone. An EVP is fundamentally about meaning. The reasons people feel proud to work at your organisation. The most effective EVPs we see are not necessarily flashy, but they are clear, consistent and deeply connected to the values and culture of the organisation. When well-crafted and confidently communicated, non-profits can not only compete, but excel, when it comes to attracting and retaining capable, aligned professionals who are motivated by more than just salary.
