Lotus People Win – Small Business Awards!

We are thrilled to announce that Lotus People have won the Champion Recruitment Services Award at the Australian Small Business Champion Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony held on Saturday 1st April at The Westin Sydney, with over 1,000 guests in attendance. We shared this category with 8 other recruitment agencies and were honoured to take home the trophy.

The awards aim to recognize outstanding Australia small businesses and encourage high standards of excellence in small business practice. “The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is a way to recognize the efforts of small business people whose efforts contribute to the prosperity and vitality of communities across Australia”, said Steve Loe, Managing Director of Precedent Productions and founder of the awards. “As a small business owner myself, I know the vision and dedication to excellence required to succeed. These traits have been displayed in abundance by all of our 2017 Small Business Champions.”

Since inception in 2015, Lotus People have been recognized as a finalist for Seek’s Small Agency of the Year in our first year, along with being placed at number 8 in Job Advisor’s Job Advisor’s Coolest Companies of 2016.

It really has been an incredible year and an incredible start to the business, and we are continuously humbled and grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from candidates, clients and the market in general. Thank you!

In a market where competition for qualified professionals is fierce, many of our non-profit clients are asking us: “How can we attract and retain great people when we can’t compete on salary and perks?” It’s a valid concern. Industries such as technology, financial services and consulting often have the financial bandwidth to offer high salaries, generous bonus structures and a long list of lifestyle benefits. For mission-driven organisations working with tighter resources, it can feel like a difficult race to run. But a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) isn’t built on budget alone. An EVP is fundamentally about meaning. The reasons people feel proud to work at your organisation. The most effective EVPs we see are not necessarily flashy, but they are clear, consistent and deeply connected to the values and culture of the organisation. When well-crafted and confidently communicated, non-profits can not only compete, but excel, when it comes to attracting and retaining capable, aligned professionals who are motivated by more than just salary.

But before you hand in your resignation or start firing off job applications, it’s worth taking a pause and looking at what’s really causing that feeling. Here’s what we’d recommend before making any big decisions:
